Krispy Kreme opens in The Bridges, Sunderland

Krispy Kreme opened a second outlet in the North East of England yesterday. Fresh doughnuts will be delivered to the new coffee bar in The Bridges Shopping Centre, Sunderland every day from the local Hotlight store in Gateshead. The new store also offers Krispy Kreme coffee to accompany the 16 delicious varieties of doughnut available.

The store is located on Walworth Way near to Tesco Metro.

The Glades Signs A Number Of High Profile Tenants

Capital Shopping Centres has increased the number of high end retailers at its Bromley shopping centre The Glades. Phase Eight, celebrating its 15th year in the centre next month, has upgraded to a new unit, trebling in size to a 1,677-sq ft store next to TM Lewin, Coast, Karen Millen and Kurt Geiger. The Apple Store also opened at the end of September 2012.

Leading footwear brand Sole Trader has also taken a 2,017-sq ft store opposite Hennes and Mango, in keeping with fashion led retailers that are already established in The Glades.

Jonathan Ainsley, asset management director for CSC, said: “These new lettings really demonstrate how well The Glades is performing; representing the attraction of the centre for new retailers and the successful trading of existing retailers. These lettings form part of our vision to make The Glades a one stop shopping destination which perfectly meets the needs of the affluent catchment it serves with an offer that comprises quality and choice. The Glades has a particularly strong demographic which will be well served by these high-end brands.”

New Store at The Harlequin, Watford

Apple opens new store in The Harlequin Watford

Apple opened a new store on the upper tier of The Harlequin Centre this weekend (Saturday 15th September 2012). The opening was well attended with hundreds of customers visiting the store throughout the day. The opening of the Apple’s 34th retail store in the UK has also created several new jobs in The Harlequin Centre.

White Rose In Leeds Announces Expansion Plans

September 11, 2012

Land Securities has released plans to expand White Rose shopping centre in Leeds by 680,000 sq ft.

Extensions to the existing Primark and Debenhams stores along with a cinema, four additional restaurants and more shops have been included in the plans. White Rose currently employs 3,500 and attracts up to 13 million shoppers per year. This extension will create hundreds of additional employment opportunities.

Planning applications for the proposed expansion will be submitted to the City Council later in the year.

“If our planning application is approved, it will enable the expansion of both stores; see the introduction of new catering outlets and the opening of the only cinema in south Leeds, which will be a valuable amenity for the local community.”

Shopping Centre Magazine – SCEPTRE Awards 19th June 2012

The SCEPTRE Awards are held to recognise the best practice and the best people in the shopping centre industry. The awards, hosted by comedian Miles Jupp, were held in The Dorchester on the 19th of June.

The awards were presented across 15 categories including; Large Centre Manager of the Year, which was won by Andrew Bradley of The Bridges in Sunderland. The other categories recognised the achievements of retailers, centre management, customer service, marketing, security and the young achiever of the year award.

Retail Profile and SpaceandPeople sponsored the prestigious SCEPTRE Grand Prix award, which was won by the property owner/managing agent with the most nominations throughout all the categories.

Retail Profile would like to congratulate all of the winners from this year’s SCEPTRE awards.
